With his degree in Exercise and Wellness and 2 International Certification Courses from ASI and IOSUP he has developed his own method of training athletes based on their individual characteristics and biomechanics.Β As the founder of Functional Paddling, he has coachedΒ world-class paddle boarders like Sean Poynter, Connor Baxter and Izzy Gomez.

ABOUT MALDIVES

A bucket list destination most people can only dream of, scattered across the equator in the middle of the Indian Ocean, the gem like islands of the Maldives depict the vision of a tropical paradise. Palm fringed islands with pristine beaches, turquoise lagoons, crystal clear warm water, stunning coral reefs and abundant varieties of marine life hosting a massive variety of world class waves that are now accessible to the travelling surfer.

There are 1,192 islands grouped in 26 coral atolls in the Maldives Republic, measuring 820 km’s north to south and 120 km’s east to west, the closest neighbours are India and Sri Lanka. People who have never been to the Maldives often have trouble comprehending that there is almost no land and the highest point above sea level is less than 10 feet.. It is sea with little pockets of coral dotted on top of an old volcanic mountain range. Only 202 of the islands are inhabited; there are no hills or rivers with little tidal movement.

BOAT TRIP vs SURF RESORT

Regardless of either boat or land based surf trip, the most important thing to remember as a SUP surfer, is that our itineraries, boats and whole product is designed around Stand Up Paddle surfing. You’ll be well catered for and among friends.

On a boat there are big advantages. No constraints, we can access all available surf breaks, most of which are not accessible from land. Escape the crowds and get to the best spots dependant on conditions. You have the opportunity to see more of the country and meet more of the people. You will find yourself on uninhabited island with a bon fire at sunset and a beer in your hand after a long days surfing. A boat gives you freedom.

Seasick? Very very few people get seasick on our boats, they are big and stable, we choose calm protected anchorages every night and we’ve never had anyone seasick at anchor.

We generally skip surfing at the super busy North Male atoll breaks but we’ll pick off some waves in South Male atoll on the way through to the Southern Central Atolls. We have a seemingly unlimited fuel allowance and will cruise as far as Laamu Atoll in the far southern central region on a 10 night or Meemu atoll on a seven nighter. This gives you the very best opportunity to score quality waves. We the type of waves our customers want and where to find them depending on the conditions.

At a land based surf resort you won’t have the same opportunity, Β the wind, the swell and tides all need to align. Most resorts have one “private” wave option and limited to a couple of near by waves accessible by speedboat or surf Dhoni. Besides that, most resorts will allow up to 30 surfers on a “private wave”.

NON SURFING PARTNERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO JOIN

Whether your travelling solo, with a friend, family or with your partner. All our tours have been designed to entertain and cater for the non surfers while you are off getting the waves of your life.

Whats not to love about cruising around the Maldives on a luxury motor yacht, soaking up the sun on the roof top deck with a book in one hand a cocktail in the other? If thats to relaxed we have a PADI dive school & instructor onboard, inflatable paddle boards, cooking classes, yoga mats, snorkelling gear, in room TVs, WIFI and library. Fishing, island exploring, local interactions, clean up the beaches and photographers will be in awe.

In recent years Sunova has become a leader in the growing Stand Up Paddle market, producing unique Balsa wood high-performance surf and race SUPs that have become the most sort after boards on the market.

Sunova SurfboardsΒ are the manufacturers of high-performance composite sandwich surfboards. Under the tutelage ofΒ Shaper of the Year, and legendary shaper Bert Burger,Β SunovaΒ has been pioneering the use ofΒ parabolic balsa railsΒ and veneer skinned surfboards for over 20 years. Originating out of Mandurah, Western Australia, Bert has been leading the way inΒ lightweight surfboardsΒ built with an emphasis on strength and flex to createΒ epoxy surfboardsΒ which are not only strong surfboards lasting much longer than the industry standard PU boards but high-performance surfboards.

IF YOU CANT TRAVEL WITH YOUR OWN BOARD?Β

We’ve got you covered, we have a range of boards between 112L – 148L available for early bird bookings at no additional charge.Β Subject to availability at the time of booking.

Please note we do not supply fins, paddles or leg ropes. These are all personal preferences.

We do have spares available if you lose or damage anything.

”If you’re a surfer riding a smaller board or simply love riding your favourite board, we encourage you to bring it! There is no problem bringing your own board and it’s pretty easy travelling with airlines like Singapore and Air Asia for example”

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF FREE USE OF SUNOVA SUPs

USD$100 board bond deposit is required. ReimbursedΒ after the tour if no damages.

If you plan on bringing your own board our boardsΒ cannotΒ be allocated for backup boards and sole use. Any boards that have not been allocated for sole use will be available to use and demo from time to time throughout the tour.

Supplied boards are subject to availability and may change without notice or become unavailable. When you are allocated one of our boards that board will be considered yours for the entire trip. If you decide to let others use the board or swap boards around that is up to you. Consider the board yours and treat it as if it is as such for the entire charter.

If you are trying, demoing or using any of the SUNOVA SUPs in our range it is your responsibility to inspect the board for damage before use. If you find any damage prior to use you need to let a Moon Tours representative know before use.Β  Any damage found will be billed to the person who last used the board.

The minimum repair cost $100USD for minor repairs carried out on the trip.

Allocated surfers will be responsible for any repairs, professional or otherwise regardless of who or how the board is damaged. As it would be if it were your own board.Β

Major repairs on boards that need to be hand-carried to Australia and repaired by professionals will incur further costs.Β The minimum charge is $200USD

If the board is a write-off, i.e. creased or snapped the allocated surfer will be responsible for the full second-hand market value of the board.Β

It is your board for the trip and you will be responsible for it. If you believe someone else is responsible for damaging the board allocated to you Moon Tours will seek repair costs from you, the person the board is allocated to and it will be your responsibility to seek compensation from third parties if you choose.Β

Unfortunately, we do not have the ability to make professional repairs in the Maldives. If the damage is minor and we can patch the board up to keep you on the water that does not constitute a professional repair.Β

The waves and seasons

In relatively recent times, surfing in the Maldives has attracted many surfers from all over the world. The same swells hitting Indonesia deliver the goods to the Maldives except that the latitude is a little higher and the SE exposure has less energy. It is fast becoming one of the world’s hot spots for surfing, as it is right now, with the right know-how and where too, you can still find yourself surfing empty lineups with you and your mates.

There are three main surfing areas;

  • North and South Male Atoll The surf season runs from April to October during the South-West Monsoons. The bigger swells run from May to August with 2 to 8 ft waves on offer all season. North Male is by far the busiest place to surf in the Maldives. With an upwelling of land-based hostels and resorts catering for surfers and the ability to cater for the budget conscious, along with most boat trips focussing on the same area it is not uncommon to find 50 people or more on a wave. When the swell gets tiny North Male may be the only option as a swell magnet but this is rare. When the swell gets big North Male creates soul-arching barrels and heavy hold downs on the reef.
  • Central & Southern Central Atoll chain standard waves are long and clean with sizes varying between 2 and 8ft. During the southern hemisphere winter (April-October), it’s pretty much never flat with endless choices of waves working in all wind and swell directions. This is where we focus much of our attention. We can’t mention wave names here for good reason, but rest assured you need a boat to access most of them and will often find yourself in an empty lineup.
  • Deep South /Β  Southern Atolls right at the southern point of the Maldives are best for surf from February to April and from September to November, there are always waves in the area but the winds become very strong at other times of the year. Getting here is tricky with SUP on a local flight. Basically at this stage, it is not possible. Don’t be bummed though, wave choice is less suitable for SUP and there are fewer options.

Β 7 nights – 8 days

DAY ONE

Arriving on the day you will be met by an Adora and or a Moon Tours representative as you exit the international arrivals area. If you are arriving the day before you will not be a representative to meet your arrival.

10:am on the day we will gather at Male Airport in front of Coffee Club / Burger King, where you will board Adora shortly after. Male is a small airport so it is easy to find us.

*If you can not arrive before 12;30pm on day one, you will need to arrive the day before and overnight in Male or Hulhule Male as well as arrange your own way there and back to the airport. We can assist. See FAQs for accommodation options.

Typical 8-day tour

Generally speaking, we will travel as far south as Meemu Atoll and even Thaa and the west coast if conditions demand. This area has some of our favourite waves and is a great option for those who might be time-poor.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our SUP surf trips starts and ends in Male harbour, close to here, you will find the island nation’s most famous waves in nearby North Male Atoll, along with most of the boats and a bunch of land-based surf resorts and hostels combining together to cause massive congestion in the line ups. It is rare for us to surf in this area. Here you will find; Jailbreaks, Sultans, Cokes, Ninjas, Honky’s and private resort waves like Pastor Point.

SUP surfers will prefer our favourite waves in the central and southern central atolls, most only accessible by boat. These breaks have fewer crowds and offer perfect fuller waves and long rides for SUP surfers. In short, it’s SUP heaven. They can still hold some size but remain very rippable on a foil. There are heavy barreling waves in the area but don’t expect to be surfing them as your main priority. It’s a SUP trip.

A surf trip should be flexible, not locked into strict daily miles or locations. Our trips are based around Mother natures plans for the swell and wind. Because of this, we are ultimately flexible up until the last minute and during the whole trip.

With a massive fuel and mileage allowance we have the luxury to travel further than any standard charter, which gets you away from the crowds and into the best waves. Rest assured, you will get what you are looking for with this outstanding boat, experienced crew, local surf guide and Moon Tours representatives that know the area well.

Adora Dive Equipment Rates

Fishing has always been the lifeblood of island nations and the Maldives is no different, this place has been dubbed the ‘fishiest’ places on the planet. Pelagic species are often the favourite target although there are a lot of reef and shallow-water species that will give you a run for your money; Bonefish, Barracuda, Grouper, Snapper and the king of fish, the Giant Trevally. You will need some heavy-duty gear to get the big GT’s onto the boat.

Cruising the deep waters along the outside of the reef; Yellowfin Tuna, Dogtooth Tuna, Dolphin Fish, Wahoo, Sail Fish and Marlin all cruise these waters. With the freedom to fish off all three boats along with eager crew, keen fishermen should bring a decent rod and plenty of their favourite lures.

We have a couple of inflatable SUP’s for guests to use free of charge. Great for a flat water paddle, some exercise and fun off the back of the boat.

*Please note that inflatable SUP’s in the Maldives get a hard time, coupled with the heat and sun we have experienced failures with multiple brands. We intend to have them available but if they sustain damage and become unusable it is unlikely we will be able to repair them in the Maldives.

Inhabited local Islands

Find your feet on land for a walk or run around a local island. Most islands are small with sandy roads and tracks that can be walked around in 20-30mins. Make sure you take a drink bottle and a couple of dollars with you in case you want to buy something from the store.

Β

To respect the Muslim culture women should dress modestly covering your shoulders & knees.

Β

Uninhabited IslandsΒ

Take some time out and stretch your legs with a walk or run around a palm-fringed island beach, lay on the sand with a book or take a bag and pick up any plastic bottles that have washed up. Make sure you take a drink bottle.

Β

No money is needed, bikinis and alcoholic beverages are welcome on uninhabited islands.

Movies

Adora has a fully air-conditioned lounge with large flat-screen TV as well as in your cabins. These TV’s are connected to an onboard entertainment system showcasing movies and music. We also have a hard drive with pre-loaded movies, do bring a loaded USB to use on in-room TVs.

Β

Stretch out, bend and flex in the gentle breeze on the rooftop sundeck offering shaded and sun-soaked areas or in the comfort of the air-conditioned lounge or cabin areas.

The chef welcomes you into the kitchen to learn how to make some local Maldivian dishes – curries, roti bread and fresh fish preparation. Lots of spice blends to get your taste buds watering.

Bring your camera, its hard to take a bad photo in the Maldives.

On top of the turquoise waters, sunsets, colourful palm-fringed islands, bright culture and friendly locals it will have you engaged for hours.

Underwater, the marine life is colourful and abundant.

You may even like to try your angle of surf/action photography from the beach or surf boat. If you have a waterproof camera and you’re a confident swimmer surfers will love the in-water angles.

Depending on the itinerary we take, there may be an opportunity to purchase a day pass and soak up some of the luxuries on a private resort. You may like to take a massage, lay by a pool or enjoy a private dinner with your partner.

Resort passes vary from $50-$200 depending on the resort.

Subject to resort availability and cruising schedule.

We like to arrange visits to a local primary school or kinder garden. It is a great way to meet people and experience a friendly and happy culture.

Donations of sporting equipment; tennis rackets, soccer balls, crayons, and pencils are most welcomed and appreciated by the teachers and kids.

Supplies can be purchased on a local island or Male. Always nice to support local businesses rather than bringing that kind of thing from Australia we reckon.

ALL-INCLUSIVE MEALS, SNACKS, FILTERED WATER, TEA & COFFEE

Watch our professional chefs cooking through a viewing window next to the bar, they will serve up three tasty meals a day as well as some pre and post-surf snacks. If for some reason you haven’t had your fill, let us know and we can have something whipped up for you.

INTERNATIONAL BANK TRANSFER

You will find our USD banking details on the invoice. This is an international transaction, please select the sender to pay fees as only the amount received in our account will be applied to the invoice.

AUD bank transfer (Australian residents only $50AUD fee to be added to the transfer amount)Β

You will find our AUD bank details on the invoice also.

Please use the NAB foreign exchange calculator (link below) to work out how much AUD you need to transfer and then add $50AUD so we can transfer it into our USD account for you.Β *You may get better rates doing the international transaction yourself but for some, this is simply easier and less hassle.

*The AUD / USD rates fluctuate by the minute, while we endeavour to transfer the AUD funds we receive as soon as possible the rate may have changed in the meantime therefore the rate and amount you send us is not 100% guaranteed to cover the USD amount required. Generally, it’s going to be close but if there is a shortfall we may ask you to make another AUD transfer.

Wise money transfer.Β Money transfer services likewise have become more popular and generally offer better rates than regular banks. It is a requirement of Moon Tours that you have private travel insurance which covers cancellations, Β emergency medical attention and evacuation, the rest is important but inconsequential compared to the aforementioned if you need it. Moon Tours insurance does not cover you.Β We recommend you invest in Travel Insurance as soon as you have booked and confirmed your holiday. Brett from Hello World can assist if you chose.

When choosing your cover you might first look at your equipment cover when actually you should be looking at medical cover and emergency medical evacuation. This is the number one thing to consider when booking any travel insurance.

We recommend Cover More if you’re travelling from Australia.

FROM AUSTRALIA

You have a few options but if it’s Surfboards and Surf SUP’s you want to bring then we recommend flying with Singapore Airlines or Air Asia to Male who have been taking boards up to 9’6 for us and our clients since 2017 without incident.
Singapore Airlines leave regularly from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane – Male via Singapore. Singapore Airlines have a generous standard allowance with up to 30kg / 9’6 max length in economy. Don’t go over the limit though, you can not pre-purchase additional luggage and excess is charged at $42USD per kilo.
Air Asia leave regularly from Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast via Kuala Lumpur.
Air Asia offer pre-purchased additional sporting allowance making it easier to bring multiple boards.

FROM THE UNITED STATES

The easiest way to get to the Maldives is through Dubai on Emirates who take boards up to 300cm / 10β€².
EmiratesΒ fly regularly from Los Angeles – Dubai – Male, the shortest route takes about 27hrs including stops.

Please see itinerary details for your boats departure/arrival times, you may be required to arrive the day before to align with departure times.

*Remember to double check your airlines luggage allowance, we can not be held responsible for any refusal you may encounter from an airline.

Whether you are arriving the day before your tour or you have a few hours to fill, you can store your boards at the airport in the luggage room upon arrival – $12 a day, we will pick them up when we board the yacht.

WHERE IS THE LUGGAGE
Easy to find, when you walk outside the arrivals doors turn left and you will see the storage office about 100 meters away. Next door to the public toilets.

Almost all Visitors get a 30 days Visa on arrival at no charge. Visitors entering the Republic of Maldives should fulfill the following requirement for the grant of an entry permit into the country. Valid international travel document issued by the Government of a Sovereign State. Return air ticket. Minimum of US$30.00 per person per day or confirmed hotel reservation.

*It is important to double check the Visa requirements of the country you are travelling from and your passport country of origin.

Lightweight clothing is best. Prepare for hot & humid conditions. To respect the Muslim culture women should dress modestly covering shoulders & knees however the airport is very westernized.

If you have time to spare you might like to visit the bustling Male City. Take the local ferry, approx $1US each way or a cab across the new bridge linking the two islands together, approx $10USD each way. The ferry ticket booth is in front of the Coffee Club/Burger King and taxis can be easily accessed at the airport taxi rank.

Alternatively, you can take a 15min bus ride around to Hulhule Male where it is much quieter. There are nice restaurants & cafes along the beach. Note there are no bikinis on this beach.

At the Hulhule Island Hotel by the airport, you can purchase a pool pass (bikini friendly) for a swim, a cold beer and somewhere to relax if need be. There is a frequent free shuttle to the hotel from the front of the airport.

Our tours start and finish at Male, Valena International airport. Unless your tour states otherwise.

Most guests arrive on the start day, (Singapore Airlines)Β SQ 11:50 am which aligns well with the boarding time ofΒ 1pm, however an overnight to catch up on sleep before the trip starts is good.

On the last day SQ flightΒ at 12:50Β works well for departure and we will have everyone back at the airport at 10:30-11 to align with this flight check in.

You definitely don’t need a car, Male and Hulhumale, are very small islands you can walk across in a few minutes. Everything is 15 minutes from the airport. It’s actually worth walking around, to give you some perspective of how the Maldivian ‘city’ folk live and Muslim lifestyles and culture. Rooms are comfortable, but not always quiet, so always travel with ear plugs and an eye mask, is my hot tip. It’ll also make you appreciate the boat more!

Space is a premium on the island, so most rooms are small to standard size, enough for a bed and bathroom. If you want more than that, you have to pay premium prices and/or leave Male for a resort.

I’d look at H-78, I always find them to have the best service, clean modern rooms and most importantly for me, the best breakfast! They have a range of western and local food.

If you want more than that, jump on trip advisor orΒ Bookings.comΒ and have a look at places to suit your needs. They will usually always include airport pick up and drop off.

Tip: if you are travelling with a SUP or surfboard it’s easiest to put it in storage at the airport and grab when we meet back at the airport for boarding the yacht.

See some other accomodation options below.Β

β€œCoconut Tree Hulhuvilla” Beach provides a comfortable setting in Hulhule male.
It offers clean simple accommodation with air-conditioned rooms and satellite TV. Recently refurbished you get free Wi-Fi and very basic breakfast. Room service can be ordered from the adjoining hotel. Under different names but the same company, you will need to settle room service bills at the time.

A hotel airport shuttle or taxi can be pre-arranged with reception to and from the airport for $10.

The breakfast is very basic, we recommend walking to a nearby cafe like β€˜Family Room’ or β€˜Bread Matters’, they both do a lovely breakfast.

NOTE: No alcohol is served here

β€œSimry Beachside Maldives” is another option which is next door to Coconut Tree.

Simry Beachside Maldives offers 3-star accommodation in Male. It also provides massage services, room service, express check-in and check-out feature.

On-site dining options include a restaurant which is an ideal spot to have a meal within a 10-minute drive of Male International Airport.

NOTE: No alcohol is served here

Please arrive byΒ 12pm midday, if you arrive later than this you will need to arrive the day before and overnight in Male. We planΒ to board the yachtΒ at 1pm, if everyone is on time we can get on earlier.

We will generally get off the yachtΒ around 10amΒ to be at the airportΒ by 11am. This aligns with SQ flights.

If you need to leave earlier please let us know in advance so we can arrange a private transfer. Please note private transfers are an additional expense.

Non surfers welcomed. Bring your partner, friends and family, there are lots of activities to entertain everyone.

Children 13+ welcome, anyone younger will be considered upon application.

If you have 10+ in your family / group ask about a group discount and the options of a private charter.

Please let us know if you have dietary requirements and especially medical conditions like allergies. Gluten free is not a problem as a lifestyle choice or mild intolerance but if you are diagnosed celiac with severe reactions please let us know so we can make extra allowances.

Every meal served will give you a wide range of choices from light and bright, vegetarian to hot and heavy and carnivore suitable.

We have some 5 non-surfing surfing spots available for partners, family and friends. Non-surfers will enjoy a luxury cruise around the Maldives and can partake in all non-surfing activities such as flat water paddling, plenty of fishing, snorkelling, scuba diving (learn to dive with PADI), island hopping, local island interactions, a luxury resort visit, beautiful food, sunset drinks and music on the sundeck as well as the opportunity to learn how the chefs prepare a mixture of local dishes.

Depending on the tour we do offer daily yoga and pilates classes although some self-guided yoga on the sundeck is a pastime many enjoy regardless.

At the end of the day non surfers can be kept reasonably busy, I think it goes without saying that surfing comes first but we can and do cater for non-surfers all the time. If a non-surfer struggles to relax, likes to run 10 mile a day and needs constant organised or guided activities they may struggle on a cruise.

If you would like to add a non-surfer to your booking please let us know.

It’s always a good idea to have some cash, whether it’s USD or local Rufiyaa. You never know when you might need it.

If you are heading to Male or want to shop on local islands we recommend getting some local currency (Rufiyaa), it will come in handy. The coins, in particular, are quite attractive and make an interesting souvenir themselves, but the smaller denominations are rarely used or seen.

You can get major currencies exchanged at the airport on arrival at the forex exchange in the airport or withdraw local currency from one of the ATM’s. If you have any leftover at the end of the trip you can use it to partially settle your account on the boat.

USD are accepted almost everywhere in the Maldives but not great for buying ice cream at the corner store.

Settling bar tabs, dives, any additional expenses on board can be done so by using a credit card. Generally this incurs a 5% surcharge. Pretty standard around the world for overseas cards.

Wifi is included on board in the shared lounge area but it is not great. If you need to be connected for work and require reliable internet you will need to get a local SIM card. There is Dhiraagu and OREEDHOO local teleco stores 20m to the right as you come through the arrival doors.

Approx USD$30 for 20GB, USD$50 50GB which lasts up to 30 days.

The boats and cabins are fitted with UK type G three pin square outlets. There are a few universal outlets on board and generally some universal adapters around the place.

Duty-free alcohol will not be permitted to enter the Maldives, if you do purchase Duty-Free it will be taken off you on arrival and you can pick it up on your flight out.

Legally, if you’re 18 and not a Muslim, you can buy and drink alcohol on licensed boats and resorts. However since the Maldives is an Islamic nation, alcohol is effectively banned for the local population.

The only place near Male, aside from resorts, where people can drink alcohol is at the Hulhule Island Hotel, commonly known as HIH or the airport hotel.

See your doctor for some basic medications; pain relief, antibiotics for coral cuts, gastro-stop / Imodium and Azithromycin (prescription) in the event of severe diarrhea, nausea tablets if you are prone to motion sickness although rare on our tours.

We cap our own surfers at 12, so that everyone can get waves. The Maldives is known for it’s consistency, so the steady waves really keep everyone on rotation.

As for other boats and surfers, we leave the main central atolls asap and head south to quieter, way less crowded surf breaks. We often get breaks to ourselves or as we use one of the best and most respected surf guides from the Maldives, organise sharing the wave into 2 hour time blocks with other boats. That is not always possible, as island resorts and boats bring out surfers with no guide and very little etiquette. I’m always out there enforcingΒ etiquetteΒ amongst ourselves and other surfers, but as you know it’s not always possible.

We do as whole have large portions of time to ourselves and as the trip goes, often people choose to sleep in or rest weary bodies, so the seasoned surfer can really get a high volume of waves without being greedy.

Swell size is consistently around 2-4ft, it travels far, so it has good period and energy, so generally not soft crumbly walls, but well shaped waves, prime for whacking and progression. It is not fiji or Indonesia and we don’t chase hollow, critical barrels, that is risky and survival surfing, although I have been barrelled many times and there are some waves that, if we go past will test how well you read waves. Atolls waves notorisly start at a steep peak and wind of down the reef wrapping back towards you, with fast and steeper sections. The inside is usually hollow and fast and I often advise guests to pull off before this section, if not confident.

It does also pull some swell and we’ve had it well over 6ft and plenty enough to get your hear rate up and check your legrope. I’ll attach some photos, but please peruse the website via the link to Jakes trip below. There is also a frequently asked questions tab on each trips page.

Again the Maldives are notoriously consistent, hence it’s a mecca of tropical surfing. It is monsoon season, which brings the swell, so you can get squalls and tropical storms that blow through, but primarily it is glassy to offshore. We wouldn’t go there unless the likely hood of amazing waves, is extremely high, which it is.

We can get in the water up to three times a day, with 2-3 hour windows. This often tests out the hardiest surfer and has most of us reaching for the Ibuprofen and massage gun by day 3. Atolls have tides, but can be surfed through, the only thing that really affects waves is the current at peak tide, can send a chop through the wave. The currents move in and out, but for SUP we can manage it better than surfers and a bit of current often clears out the surfers.

Quarters, Mushrooms, F1’s, rip tides, Mikados, just to name a few.

There most definitely is! the waves only get bigger and better as we leave the central atoll.
